To become an owner of real estate in Moscow, you do not have to be a Russian citizen. People from foreign countries can also buy a house, apartment or commercial property. However, there are some limitations.
A foreign citizen may entrust another person to purchase a real estate on the territory of the Russian Federation. The power of attorney should be certified by a notary in Russia or the place of residence of a foreign citizen. The document is legalized with Apostille.
According to Russian law, the purchase of property is made in the Russian currency, i.e., in rubles.
Foreigner has to fulfill some conditions to buy an apartment:
All international documents have to be translated into Russian and notarized. If you are married, you will need to provide an agreement to purchase real estate in Russia from your husband / wife.
Additionally, the foreign citizen should obtain an authorization from the public authority of the Russian Federation to purchase the real estate. To get this permit, you need to collect some documents (all documents should be translated in Russian language and must be notarized). The period documents examination is one month. This authorization can be refused only if they consider that the purchase of the real estate by the foreign citizen will create a threat to Russian security.
